BOLDER on the RUN 10K FAQs

WHAT IS GOING ON FOR 2021 and WHAT IS BOLDER on the RUN?

The bottom line after talking daily with public health officials, the city of Boulder and the University of Colorado is that safety restrictions and our timeline prevent us from holding the traditional BOLDERBoulder. However, even though we can’t run in the streets of Boulder or finish in CU Stadium, we are running live and in person over Memorial Day weekend at six locations throughout the front range.

Due to Covid 19 we will be limiting the number of participants at each location and during specific time blocks. If you would like to run in person register soon before each race location/time block fills up. You can also choose to run virtually.

Will there be a Memorial Day Tribute?

Join us on Monday, May 31st, Memorial Day, at 11:30 AM on Denver7 and 3:30 PM on Local3 for a Memorial Day Tribute hosted by Mike Nelson, as we honor our veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

When does race registration close?

The last day to register for the In-person BOLDER on the RUN is Wednesday May 26th at midnight. There will not be any in-person registration or onsite registration past this date.

Registration for the Virtual BOLDER on the RUN is open ALL weekend ending on MONDAY, May 31st at noon.

When will I receive my BOLDER on the RUN race packet?

Starting in early May, if you selected to have your packet mailed, you will receive an email when it ships from our office.

If you selected to pick up your packet at one of our partner locations, emails with specifics will be sent in early May.

How long are the courses open?

During registration, each participant selects a time block for their chosen location. Two-hour windows are available Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 6:30am – 8:30pm.

Carpooling + Parking

We encourage carpooling with family and friends as we know many people will be getting out to enjoy the holiday weekend. Running at your designated time helps ensure you have adequate parking.

Parking options vary by venue and may be limited on the busy holiday weekend. Specific details and maps will be shared in the Kick-Off email sent to each participant on Thursday, May 27th.

I'm doing the BOLDER on the Run VIRTUALLY -- how do I submit my time?

Details including a specific link will be sent in the KICK OFF email on May 27th. This link will also be posted to our website.

You will be included in our Virtual Participant Leader Board.

Submissions can be made from Saturday, May 29th through Wednesday, June 2nd.

I signed-up to run virtually, but can I change to run in-person?

As we are preparing packets for delivery/pick-up, any changes to your venue or time block will cost $10. Contact us at [email protected] with your request. Deadline to request change is Wednesday May 26th at midnight.

Do you allow walkers?

Absolutely! Walkers are always welcome.

Are there Awards?

Yes! We will have age division awards for those participating in our BOLDER on the RUN in-person events.

Medals will be awarded to the Top 15 in the following categories:

• Fastest men and women overall for each age 6 and up (age on Saturday, May 29th)!

• Best Costume Overall

• Best Selfie Overall

Virtual Participants are only eligible for Costume and Selfie medals since we are unable to verify running times. Everyone will be able to see how they did in the overall results.

Is the BOLDER on the RUN timed?

YES. If you register to run in person you will get a bib with an RFID timing tag. We will set up RFID timing equipment at each location, and we’ll capture times automatically when you cross the start and finish lines.You do need to wear your bib with tag on your course! We will provide you with your official time for your BOLDER on the RUN 10K. 

Are strollers / pets allowed on the course?

PETS

Each location has specific requirements regarding pets on the courses. Dogs are almost always welcome as long as they are leashed. We ask you to be respectful of others and keep your dog on a short leash. Also please pick up after your pooch.

STROLLERS

Strollers are a great option to include those future runners in your BOLDER on the Run. Each of our venues are unique and some are more stroller friendly. If the venue permits we ask that you are mindful of those around you when navigating your stroller along the course.

Will there be water stations?

Due to Covid-19, please bring your own reusable water bottle or hydration pack. And don’t forget sunscreen! 

Can I exchange my shirt for a different size?

If extra shirts are available, exchanges will be handled the week following Memorial Day. Contact [email protected] with questions.

What if the BOLDER on the RUN in person event has to be cancelled?

If a specific location is cancelled, we will contact you and to move you to another BOLDER on the RUN location.

If ALL the in-person locations are cancelled, all participants will be automatically entered into a virtual version of the race and can race wherever and whenever they want over Memorial Day weekend. 

Is there a refund or cancellation policy?

All entry fees are non-refundable. During the registration process acknowledgment of this policy is made. Once a runner registers, race items will be immediately ordered and printed for a participants’ registration. 

There are NO exceptions. In case of cancellation, participants will be transferred to our virtual option.

Will there be race photographers on the course?

Not this year, but please take as many selfies as you can and be sure to share on our Facebook group page.

Will bag check be provided?

Due to Covid precautions, there will not be a Bag Check on race day. You will need to make your own arrangements for any items that you would normally place into our Bag Check.

Is there a time limit to finish the course?

No. Just like the BOLDERBoulder run, jog or walk at your pace. We only ask that you keep moving to help ensure that we stay below capacity limits.

Can I pick up my packet on race day?

All packets will be mailed to your selected location or available at one of our partner locations. There will not be any in-person packet pick up on race day.

What if I forget my bib?

Please don’t – we won’t be able to provide you another one.

I lost my bib what can I do?

We can assist you. Please contact [email protected] for information regarding bib replacement/exchange for $10.

Are spectators allowed on the course?

Due to course capacity limits and ongoing social distancing practices, no spectators will be allowed at the Start or Finish areas.

What should I bring?

Bib, water, sunscreen, appropriate clothing (this is a family event, clothing is required) – by the way, don’t forget your bib.

What happens if I cannot run?

It happens. Just run a 10K on your own, and submit your virtual results.

What if it rains during my time slot?

You’ll get wet.

We all know weather in Colorado, wait 30 minutes and apply sun screen. Rain or shine the event will happen!

Will there be EMT or medical facilities on the courses?

Please don’t fall.

EMS have been notified and on are call. If needed, call 911. By the way, don’t forget your bib.

Can I hang out after?

Others will be coming behind you, keep moving.

What if I cannot find a place to park?

Drop off your group, park and use the distance to warm up. We have faith that you’ll find a place to park…

Do I have to share the course?

Yes. We’re sharing the course with other users including cyclists, so share the trail – it is not exclusive to BOLDER on the RUN.

How do I get to my startline?

We recommend using Ride share, UBER, LYFT, ot Ride your bike!

How do I submit my Virtual results?

Results can be submitted online to our virtual submission platform. Details will be included in your KICK-OFF email on May 27th.

How do I enter photos in the best costume and selfie awards?

Share your photos on facebook and instagram and tag us with #BOLDERboulder

Is there an age limit?

No, just like the BOLDERBoulder all ages are welcome!

How do I register?

Register here. Registration opens on March 9th. Each race location has a maximum number of participants, so the sooner you register, the better!

If spaces are still available, the last day to register for the in-person BOLDER on the RUN is Friday May 21st. There will not be any in-person registration or onsite registration past this date.

Registration for the Virtual BOLDER on the RUN is open ALL weekend ending on MONDAY, May 31st at noon.

My race is in Littleton, how is parking there?

It’s a 10- 12 minute walk from the alternative parking lot in Littleton, so you may want to budget for that time.

Can I change my in-person start day/time?

I was registered for the 2020 BOLDERBoulder – what now?

On June 1st, 2020 we announced that we were not able to reschedule the BOLDERBoulder for the fall of 2020.

Registered individuals were offered three free options (automatically rollover to 2021 or 2022, gift to a friend or family, or donate to one of our programs).

All 2020 registrants were emailed a personalized code that could be used for any of these purposes.

Will there be a Boulder location?

Our top priority from the beginning was to provide a Boulder location. We worked very hard to do that, but some things are beyond our control and in the end we were unable to make it a reality. The traditional BOLDERBoulder will be back in 2022, better and BOLDER than ever.

Where is BOLDER on the RUN?

You can switch location, day, or time; or between virtual and live one time before April 11 for free. After that we’ve prepared and mailed packages, and will be $10 to make any of these changes. We do anticipate each location reaching capacity so advise you to reserve a spot asap.

Pavement with crusher trail alongside. This portion of the Mary Carter Greenway consists of two scenic parks along the South Platte River. The course starts at Reynold Landing Park and runs north and east along the South Platte River to turn around at Dry Creek Trail. Adequate parking at the start area. Paved trail. Firestone Trail located near Longmont, Colorado and features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The course starts on northwest corner of the complex at Falcon Street and runs west and south for a smooth easy out and back 10K. Interlocken Business Park

Paved trail. The Interlocken Business park is home to several multinational companies and high-tech firms. But it’s not all business, a wealth of shopping and recreation are available near the business park as well. This course starts and finishes at 575 Eldorado Blvd and runs around the business park on a marked course. This terrain has a few more hills, but you will be challenged and rewarded for your efforts! Loveland
The Ranch, Larimer County’s Event Complex

Cross-country terrain trail, groomed grass. The Ranch Events complex has earned a reputation as one of the premier event and entertainment complexes in the region. They offer more than 240 aces of versatile indoor and outdoor space with ample parking. Coal Creek Trail

Paved trail. Parking is at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center. This portion of the Coal Creek Regional Trail begins at the eastern edge of Bonnell St. The course begins north on Coal Creek Trail, then winds south with a moderate incline providing spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. The course continues south snaking its way along the Cottonwood Extension Ditch before turning around. This is a cement trail 8-10 feet wide. Location >

This route features a wide dirt trail in the rolling foothills of Douglas County. Nature lovers will enjoy this trail running option without the brutal elevation of other mountain trails. Location >

What safety precautions are you taking?

We are following the current guidelines in each of our selected locations as well as State of Colorado guidelines.

When signing up for BOLDER on the RUN, you agree to a set of COVID guidelines and social contract. Those guidelines include:

  • You agree to wear a mask/face covering when in the start area and after you cross the finish line. Face coverings will not be required while you are running.
  • You agree to socially distance at least 6ft while at the event including in the start area and finish area.
  • Must be “healthy” to attend. Please stay home if you are exhibiting any COVID-like or other illness type symptoms including, but not limited to: fever, cough, sneezing, sore/scratchy throat, etc.
  • Arrive at the start area no more than 30 minutes before your scheduled start day/time block. Volunteers and marked signs will provide guidance.
  • After you finish, we are asking you to leave the area as soon after as possible.
  • There will NOT be a water station on course. Please bring any race hydration/nutrition needed before, during or after your run.
  • As the regulations change due to this ever-changing pandemic, we will keep registered racers informed with the most recent guidelines.
Will there be in-person registration on race day?

There will not be any in-person registration this year.

Can a family member or friend pick up my packet for me?

Yes. To do so, they will need your full name and sequence number (provided in your packet pick-up email).

Is there a limit to the number of people who can participate?

In consultation and cooperation with the cities and health officials, each location will have a maximum number of participants at any given time for obvious safety concerns. Each person will be able to reserve a location, day, and 2 hour participation window when they register.

Can I volunteer to help out?

Yes – we will have a limited number of VolRUNteer positions. Contact us at [email protected] to be added to our contact list. We’ll reach out as we get closer to race weekend.

When is BOLDER on the RUN?

All courses will be open Saturday May 29th, Sunday May 30th and Monday May 31st over the Memorial Day weekend from 6:30am to 8:30pm, so that you can run, jog or walk when it works best for you. All courses will be marked, measured and timed using RFID tags on the bibs. Select the location, day and two-hour time block that works best for you when you register!
